Following a 15 year career as a soloist with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Angela Sterling carved out a unique second career as an international dance photographer. For over a decade, she has traveled the world, leveraging her instinctive dancer’s timing to capture the performances of renowned ballet companies from New York to Monte Carlo.
In recent years, Angela has also turned her eye to fashion and editorial work, creating images for clients such as Lulu Lemon, Under Armour, Vala Dancewear, and Bloch Dancewear. Underlying all of Angela’s work is her background in dance, resulting in photos that beautifully intertwine the drama of performance with the spontaneity of a moment in time.
Angela’s images are seen regularly in The New York Times, USA Today, Dutch Vogue, Paris Elle and international dance publications Pointe Magazine, Danse Magazine (Paris), Dance Europe (London) and Ballet Tanz (Germany). She shoots regularly for dance companies Pacific Northwest Ballet (Seattle), Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Dutch National Ballet (Amsterdam) and Boston Ballet. Most recently, she created images for Tony Award winning choreographer and friend Christopher Wheeldon for his smash Broadway show “An American in Paris.”
Angela's work is exhibited in the Penthouse Suites at Kimpton's Alexis Hotel in Seattle and a large-scale installation of her work graces the corporate headquarters of Price Waterhouse Coopers in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
